Lead Capital was formed by its Managing Partners and a select group of high-net worth families seeking additional investments in privately-owned companies. Over the last decade, Lead Capital's Managing Partners have actively participated in the investment and management of over $230 million in 38 lower middle market companies. Lead Capital's Managing Partners work closely with its sponsor families who have impressive histories as entrepreneurs and business owners. This partnership provides companies with a unique combination of experience, capital resources and a long-term investment horizon that creates an optimal environment for continued growth.

 

Team

 

Erick Clifford, Managing Partner.  Mr. Clifford is a former Director of Investments with Harbert Mezzanine Partners, LP where he worked from 2005-2011. Prior to Harbert, Mr. Clifford worked in the Investment Banking department of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, focusing primarily on middle market merger and acquisition advisory as well as public and private equity capital formation. Prior to SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Mr. Clifford worked in the Equity Research department of Bear, Stearns & Co. Mr. Clifford received his Bachelor of Arts in College Scholars with an emphasis in History and Finance from the University of Tennessee.

 

Pryor Smartt, Managing Partner.  Mr. Smartt is a former Director of Investments with Harbert Mezzanine Partners, LP where he worked from 2003-2011. Prior to Harbert, Mr. Smartt worked in the Investment Banking department of McDonald Investments, focusing primarily on lower middle market merger and acquisition advisory. Prior to McDonald, Mr. Smartt worked in the Corporate and Investment Banking department of SunTrust Bank.  Mr. Smartt received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University.

 

Tate McNeilly, Analyst.  Mr. McNeilly joined Lead Capital Partners in 2014. At LCP, Mr. McNeilly focuses his time and efforts primarily on new deal origination, due diligence and transaction evaluation and execution. Mr. McNeilly received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Sewanee: The University of the South.

 

Trey Burdick, Analyst.  Mr. Burdick joined Lead Capital Partners in 2015. At LCP, Mr. Burdick is primarily focused on portfolio management and supporting deal evaluation and execution. Mr. Burdick received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Business from Sewanee: The University of the South.
